Every year tens of thousands of members of the public travel to Newcastle, put on their jogging shoes and then run the 13.1 miles to South Shields.  This year sees the 28th anniversary of the Great North Run and it is still one of the most popular and most demanding of the many half marathons on the annual calendar.

Joe, from our Derby office will be participating in this year's event to be held on the 5th October and will be raising funds for the charity Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK not only undertakes world-class research to improve our understanding of cancer and it's treatment, but it also provides support for the victims, and raises public awareness of the dangers from cancer.  Nearly everyone alive today will either be affected by cancer or will know someone close to them that has been.  All the money raised by Joe will directly benefit the sufferers of cancer both now and in the future and so in some small way will benefit all of us.
